Plantar Fasciitis Treatment in Stillwater

That sharp, stabbing heel pain the moment your foot hits the floor in the morning is one of the most recognizable signs of plantar fasciitis. It affects people who are on their feet all day, athletes in intense training, and plenty of people in between. If it’s been slowing you down, Reese Chiropractic can help you find out why and fix it.

How a Small Band of Tissue Creates Big Problems

The plantar fascia runs along the bottom of the foot, connecting the heel bone to the toes and supporting the arch with every step. When this tissue is repeatedly overloaded, small tears develop, causing inflammation and pain that can make walking to the kitchen feel like a challenge. Left unaddressed, plantar fasciitis can alter your gait and create secondary problems in the knees, hips, and lower back.

Why Plantar Fasciitis Develops

This condition rarely has a single cause. It builds over time as repeated stress accumulates on the foot and lower kinetic chain. Common contributors include:

  • Prolonged standing or walking on hard surfaces
  • Sudden increases in activity or training load
  • Tight calf muscles and Achilles tendons
  • Fallen or high arches, or improper footwear
  • Biomechanical imbalances in the foot, ankle, or hip

What You’ll Likely Notice

Heel pain is the hallmark symptom, worst with those first steps of the morning and often easing after a few minutes of movement, only to return after prolonged activity. Some patients also notice arch tightness, aching across the bottom of the foot, or a foot that fatigues faster than expected.
In more persistent cases, the pain stops following any predictable pattern and becomes constant. If your heel pain has lasted more than a few weeks, keeps returning after brief improvement, or has started changing the way you walk, it’s time for a proper evaluation.

When Rest Alone Isn’t Enough

Plantar fasciitis responds well to care when the underlying tension and biomechanical contributors are addressed directly. At our practice, we look at the whole picture. Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments to correct alignment issues placing uneven load on the foot, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization to reduce adhesions in the plantar fascia, and dry needling to release deep tension in the calf and intrinsic foot muscles. We’ll also walk you through stretches and home care strategies to support healing between visits.

Most patients find morning pain is the first thing to improve. From there, longer walks, fuller workouts, and pain-free days become the new normal.
